Tre

Portrait with Ken Pao

Description: A young man stands in a room with a city skyline view between clothing racks next to a dressmaker’s mannequin. The racks are filled with designer clothing, sewing patterns and hand-drawn fashion sketches pinned to the garments.

“I chose the artist name, Tre Milan because that’s my birth name. Milan is my middle name. I’ve never used Milan and then I was like, wait, Tre Milan? Sounds fancy, sounds expensive, sounds like...”Oh, what bag do you have?” “It’s Tre Milan.” “Oh, my, my...” you know.

I would say that fashion is leading me in the right direction. I believe that whatever you want to do in life, there should never be any doubts. There should never be no hope. You should never think to yourself that you won’t be able to make it. I used to think that before I found fashion. I always knew I had art but I never knew what to do with the art. Since I have fashion now, I’ve always told myself that I will make it. I’ll always make it, and I’ve never had one doubt in my mind ever since.

We’re the generation. We’re the future. We make stuff happen. We invent new things. We make new dance moves to old songs, and we develop new things. I believe that this is the generation that changes the world, and I believe that this is the generation that will be the most innovative because we’re cool like that. Don’t ask how, but we’re just cool like that.”
